Background
From the Otago Daily Times February 2006
An attack in which the woman he had lived with for 10 months received bruising to her back, arms, abdomen and cheek as well as a cut lip and grazes to her throat, brought Jeremy Antony Troy Lee (25) before Judge O’Driscoll. Charged under the Crimes Act with assaulting the 19-year-old woman, last October 17, Lee pleaded guilty and was remanded for sentence on March 7.
During an argument, about 9.30pm, the victim turned her back on Lee and jumped on to her bed, Sgt Knox said Lee then threw the blankets over her and punched her five or six times in the back and arms. When the victim tried to leave, Lee grabbed her, threw her on to the couch and kicked her in the stomach. The incident was broken up by neighbours who came to investigate the screaming.
