Hudson, was a 38-year-old process worker, who had lived for 12 years in the Selwyn Street, Addington, flat where he was found murdered in December last year. He was described by a neighbour as "a lonely, gullible and generous guy".
Justice Graham Panckhurst allowed a discount of 18 months from a starting point of 15 years, but said the murder which involved 28 stab wounds, justified an increase in the life sentence of 10 years. He said while McKee has been subject to psychiatric reports clinicians has found no evidence of psychosis in the 35-year-old carpenter. He was also sentenced to a concurrent term of four years for arson, for setting fire to clothing placed around the body.
