This Listener article has a brief summary of this case
September 2006: Christchurch woman Ariana Burgess, 24, was stabbed to death by her former partner Tony Norman in her car, with her two-year-old daughter in the back seat. Burgess moved out of their home after Norman attacked her. Norman followed Burgess to a friend’s house where she was staying and listened outside the window. He believed she was having sex with someone at the house and had laughed about him.
The next day he broke into the house and forced Burgess to leave at knifepoint, taking her daughter with them. As they were driving through Christchurch Burgess hit the car horn, attracting attention. Norman then attacked Burgess with the knife, stabbing her at least 17 times.
