Judge Stephen Erber described Ricky John Ottley's crimes as "by far the worst sexual assaults committed in one incident that I have encountered while I have been on the bench". He jailed 40-year-old Ottley for 12 years saying the attack showed "elements of extraordinary callousness" towards the two victims. "You were what is colloquially known as a control freak," he told the unemployed Christchurch man who had pleaded guilty to several charges and had been convicted on several more at a jury trial in Timaru last month. He appeared in the Christchurch District Court yesterday for sentence on two charges of kidnapping a woman, assault on her father, and sexual violation
