Norman Ryan made a great escape - straight into the arms of the police.
Ryan, 34, facing his 18th conviction for driving while disqualified, was jailed for 19 months by Christchurch District Court judge Raoul Neave. He admitted charges of unlawful taking, theft, driving while disqualified and male assaults female, the latter committed on his former partner.
