Background
NZ Herald story here
In February 2004, Fegasolai Solo Sia and co-offender Kayla Dennis who was already on parole attacked John Dwyer at the Upper Hutt railway station. He had missed his train and was waiting when Sia hit him twice over the head with a bottle. He lost consciousness and the pair took off with his backpack. The pair then went to a Takeaway shop in Upper Hutt and ordered a meal. Because of bad weather, the owner said they could stay in the shop and eat - he too was attacked. Sia jumped the counter and grabbed Leong Wong, demanding money. Dennis took a fork and hit Mr Wong in the head. Mr Wong had tried to do the girls a good turn and got 11 stitches in his head for his helpfulness. Mr Wong's wife and daughter tried to stop Sia leaving but Dennis punched them both before they ran off. Both were turned in to police by relatives the next day. Mr Dwyer still suffered from headaches and found it hard to be trusting while Mr Wong no longer felt as capable at his job.
