From the Dominion Post 12th December 2009
Three men who invaded a Bay of Plenty home in September have been sent to prison. Starlight Manuel, 25, John-Paul Te Rito, 24, and Godfrey Te Rito, 21, forced their way into a Kawerau house, armed with a samurai sword, a lump of concrete and a piece of wood. They terrorised the family of seven there and took cellphones, cannabis, methamphetamine and $300 in cash. Appearing in Whakatane District Court, Manuel was sentenced to six years' jail, John-Paul Te Rito to five years 10 months and his brother five years four months. The brothers were also involved in an aggravated robbery of a dairy, for which they received an additional two-year term.
