Background
Abducted an 11 year old girl who had the mental age of a three or four year old from her tent at a camping ground on the banks of the Waikato River. Thomson sexually violated her but was interrupted when his partner caught him and pushed him to the ground which allowed the victim to make an escape. Thomson pleaded guilty to all charges in the Rotorua District Court.
