Background
Yesler and his wife of 14 years moved to New Zealand from Florida in 1997. He met his wife while she was living in America in 1991. They moved back to New Zealand because of Yesler's financial problems in the United States. The Auckland High Court heard Yesler was suffering from depression at the time he killed his wife.
