TATTOOED VERMIN SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ON THE STREETS

The man who murdered Emma Agnew is a piece of tattooed vermin and should not have been on the streets says the Sensible Sentencing Trust.

Trust Spokesman Garth McVicar said that Reid was cunning, manipulative and had long since proven he did not give a toss about human life.

"Reid’s previous history should have not only prevented him from getting a new identity it should also have alerted probation officials to recall him as soon as he breached his conditions.”

“Liam Reid alias Julian Edgecombe should have been back behind bars long before he murdered Emma Agnew, this appears to be another classic example of our offender friendly legal process failing – sadly with once again a horrific outcome.”

“Current legislation is far to soft on criminals like Reid and is time New Zealand adopted a ‘Three Strikes’ law that would protect the public from career criminals like Reid.

“Reid is nothing but a piece of tattooed vermin disguised as a human being and sadly there are many more like him – the ability of the law to protect innocent people from them is totally inadequate – we must have a ‘three-strikes’ law to protect our women and children.”

McVicar said he will be joining a protest march in Christchurch tomorrow and will be asking all politicians to support the introduction of a ‘Three-Strikes’ law.
