It is pleasing to see Police Minister Judith Collins taking charge and responding to the "Christchurch Boy Racer attacks Policeman" issue so immediately and severely.
Christine Davey, Sensible Sentencing's Spokesperson on Drug Issues now awaits her plan of action on intervention of P users before another innocent bystander gets shot by Police.
After all, if the Boy Racer issue, in which no-one died, can elicit such a response, then it stands to reason that a situation involving illegal drug-use which results in an innocent person being shot dead by Police, must rank higher on her list of priorities.
As well as continuing to target P Dealers and Manufacturers, this Government must start targeting the Users. These are the people who commit the crimes to fund their habit. We need intervention in illicit drug Use at family request, and Treatment facilities in order to stop more of these tragedies occurring.
It is not ok to continue putting the general public at risk by turning a blind eye to P use.
Regards,
Christine Davey
