Sentenced to 24 months imprisonment in April 2005
Background
From Waikato Times story April 2nd 2005
Offender confesses Dale Biddle kissed and sexually assaulted a girl - then was overcome by guilt. So he apologised and dobbed himself into police. Yesterday in court, Judge Joanna Maze said Biddle's "deeply degrading behaviour had a lasting impact on the victim and it was unlikely she would ever put it behind her". In sentencing the 34-year-old Huntly beneficiary on charges of sexual violation and indecent assault, Judge Maze acknowledged it was a single incident, he had been burdened by his behaviour and had confessed. He had no similar previous convictions.
Pre-sentence reports said he was highly motivated to change. Judge Maze sentenced him to two years on the sexual violation charge and a one-year concurrent sentence on the indecent assault charge. Special release conditions were imposed including ongoing psychological assessment and counselling for six months. She remitted his outstanding fines of $10,051.
