Background
Greymouth, Dec 22 - A West Coast man was today sentenced to three years' six months jail for indecently assaulting a girl aged 15 and breaking into a home with intent to commit the crime. Reuben Dean Cooper, 33, of Kumara, was found guilty by a Greymouth District Court jury of both counts last month.
At today's sentencing Judge Murray Abbott said the jurors had got it right. He ordered Cooper to serve a minimum non-parole period of two years. Cooper broke into the house of the complainant's boyfriend on November 27, 2003, after a party which she had attended there.
