Information from The New Zealand Paedophile and Sex Offender Index, New 2004 Edition
Found guilty in the Wellington High Court of three charges of rape and two charges of indecency with girls aged between five and eight at various times between 1966 and 1974. Sentenced to fours years' jail. On appeal in 1994 Sir Robin Cooke, President of the Court of Appeal, halved Edwards' four-year sentence on the grounds that Edwards had not offended for more than 16years. Edwards had earlier been convicted twice in the 1960's and once in 1975 for indecent assaults on young girls, receiving four years' imprisonment for the last conviction.
