Sentenced to 4 years - concurrent on each charge - in March 1996
Background
From the Evening Post 7th March 1996
A former pastor who pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting four teenage boys was sentenced to four years in jail when he appeared in the High Court at Rotorua yesterday. Stuart Frederick Leake, 57, of Tauranga, pleaded guilty at an earlier appearance to four representative charges of indecent assault on boys aged 12 and 16 between 1973 and 1989. The offences occurred in Wellington.
Counsel Murray Callender said Leake had confessed to Church elders. In 1992 they removed him from any position of responsibility within the Church and organised counselling for him. During this time, Leake contacted three of the four complainants to ask their forgiveness, which he understood to be given.
