Background
From Waikato Times story Aug 12th 2008
A Waipa man escorted back from Samoa on child pornography charges last month
also admitted having bestiality films in his possession.
Police said John Alexander Morrissey, 39, of Te Awamutu, was holidaying in a luxury hotel in Samoa last month when three Waikato police officers hauled him back to Hamilton in relation to possessing objectionable material - child pornography. Morrissey was apprehended on July 16 and his tourist visa revoked. Samoan news media reported the man had a laptop that had photos stored on it.
In the Hamilton District Court yesterday police withdrew one charge of possessing objectionable material but laid five further charges. All five relate to bestiality films, involving dogs and horses, or sexual exploitation of young girls, and stem from an incident on July 3. Standing passively in the dock, Morrissey admitted all five charges and was convicted and remanded on bail to reappear for sentence next month. Police laid the charges under the Films, Videos and Publications Classification Act 1993.
