Justice Potter told the court the two girls were staying with Rae at her home. Rae (who pleaded guilty to all charges) took the girls to the liquor store where they purchased a very substantial quantity of liquor. That evening Rae was visited by a man she had only recently met and with whom she had a one-night stand.

Rae and the man smoked methamphetamine together though not in front of the girls. The girls were drinking alcohol and became intoxicated. They watched a DVD and Rae and the man went to his place and uplifted two more pornographic DVD’s and a dildo which were given to the girls.

Rae and her co-offender went into Rae's bedroom where they consumed more drugs and began having consensual sex. The girls became curious and peeped through the curtain which divided the bedroom from the sitting room. They were invited into the bedroom where Rae and her co-offender were lying naked on the bed.

The male offender asked the girls to sit on the bed and remove their pants, and they did so. While the male offender alternated between the victims orally and digitally penetrating them simultaneously Rae sat on the bed watching. Rae then orally penetrated her daughter's friend and inserted her finger in her vagina. Ray said she knew it was not right but claims she was "too wasted to think straight".
