Background
From the Dominion Post 11th January 2012
A man jailed for the sexual grooming of a teenager has been recalled to prison after allegedly gaining access to the internet against his release conditions. Stephen Rainham, 40, was granted parole on November 30th. He had been sentenced to two years and eight months in jail in November 2009 for sexual grooming and unlawful sexual connection with a girl aged between 12 and 16.
He was freed under special conditions that barred him from accessing the internet unless under supervision. Rainham, who had been living in Napier, appeared in Hastings District Court yesterday on three charges of failing to comply with his conditions of release and attempting to contact persons aged under 16 online using Facebook.
