Background
In the Auckland High Court, Justice Fisher said in his summing up that Richards bought food and hire videos while one of his victims stayed at his place and would sexually molest him. He would invite another victim to stay with him during school holidays and sexually abuse him. Richards would offend against other victims in a similar manner. Richards was described by a psychiatrist as "a paedophile with a preference for peri-pubescent boys between the age of 12 and 16 with a high risk of reoffending".
