Background
The Southland Times, Invercargill, October 3rd, 2007
An 18-year old Invercargill student will be sentenced on November 15 after
yesterday admitting he performed an indecent act on two young girls.
Stephen Andrew Shone admitted two charges of performing an indecent act, on girls under the age of 12, when he appeared in the Invercargill District Court. The charges arose after an incident at an Invercargill house on June 24. The police summary of facts, which was not read out in court but instead handed to Judge James Rota, says Shone had masturbated in front of the girls, encouraged them to fondle him, and pull down their pants so he could look at their genitalia.
He had stopped when he heard the girls' parents approaching, but later continued, the summary says. Judge Rota said the charges were extremely serious
