Background
Christchurch Press story here
A Christchurch father-of-five has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the kidnapping and sexual violation of two sex workers and the rape of one of the sex workers. Meatuai Tuuga, 31, was sentenced by Judge Michael Crosbie in the Timaru District Court today after a jury found him guilty on four charges of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, two charges of unlawful detention and one charge of rape.
The offences dated back to October 24, 2009 and the early hours of October 25, 2009 when Tuuga with a co-offender picked up a prostitute on Manchester St and drove her to Linwood Primary School where she was choked and forced to perform oral sex and raped. This was then repeated with a second victim. Tuuga was only found guilty of raping one of the victims, but was found guilty of sexual violation and kidnapping her. Judge Crosbie imposed a minimum non-parole period of six years.
