Background
Utatao and his former partner had been in a relationship since 1989. Their relationship was often violent. Utatao accused his former partner of sleeping with his uncle. The victim was then taken to her bedroom. She was stripped, beaten, repeatedly raped and terrorised by Utatao. The victim eventually escaped.
