Background
A psychiatric report stated that Watson admitted he had always been attracted to young girls, and he always resisted the temptation to molest them, and that he masturbated when he sexually aroused. It was evident that these were premeditated, well planned and intentional, and that he was capable of understanding the nature and quality of the act, and knowing the act was morally wrong. At interview with a psychiatrist he showed no remorse and appeared to have no concern of his actions and he tried to blame the medical profession for not being able to remedy his sexual disorder.
The Court of Appeal was told Watson had been assessed by different psychiatrists and psychologists in the past. He was not found to be suffering from schizophrenia or any psychiatric disorder but from an anti-social personality disorder. In addition he was also suffering from a "psycho-sexual disorder" namely paedophilia
